The Universal Education Foundation (UEF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and with the support of the Rostropovich-Vishnevskaya Foundation, conducted a series of workshops as part of the Water Safety Project in the Jordan Valley area.
The workshop was attended by:
- UEF Executive Director, Dr. Asa’d Ramlawi, Director General of Comprehensive School Health Directorate, Mr. Ahmad Sayara, and Director of the Environmental Department, Mr. Amjad Hamidat, as well as heads of departments and staff from the Ministry.
- Mr. Amjad Al-Khudayri, Director General of Education/Jericho
- Dr. Basmat Salem, Director of the Technical Department/ Jericho
The project includes several activities aimed at improving water systems in these schools, such as increasing storage capacity, providing drinking water, supplying chlorine testing devices, and training teachers and health committee coordinators. The initiative also involved creating educational materials about waterborne diseases, raising awareness about water safety and consumption, and supporting environmental and health clubs in developing student-led initiatives to protect and reuse water.
The workshop targeted the student environmental and health club in both directorates, and focused on water safety and hygiene in 13 schools across both districts.
